Borderlands is a FPS game that has features close to a RPG game, so basically a RPS(Role Playing Shooter). It's the same as the other rpgs as you need to level up by gaining exp from either killing monsters or completing quests. The max level for borderlands itself is level 50. It is then raised to level 70 by buying a DLC called: Borderlands The Secret Armory Of General Knoxx.

Borderlands also has a few more DLCs released as it is being constantly updated. Each DLC will have a different storyline, new bosses, and of course new weapons. As of now I am doing a series on Borderlands on my youtube channel. It contains some gameplay + tips sometimes. I would really appreciate it if you could check it out sometime.
